I certainly hope the end of year exit interviews held by management includes heart to heart conversation about the player wanting to be in Nashville for the 2013-14 season. Heart to heart, not a "Suteresque" level discussion either.

We need to recapture the Predator grit and determination that has been missing this year. We have always been close with our playing style, but we all see that there is a fundamental shortfall in the game plan. This has been exposed to a large degree with the injuries suffered.

Filip will be scrutinized as a possible scoring solution, tough duty for a kid.

Don't think Mason will be starting any other games soon no matter how done Nashville is. Get Rinne in there need some points for my pool!

I heard there's a possibility Forsberg may play tomorrow.

P.S. If the season ended today, Preds would have a 4.7% chance at the first pick. Personally, I'd prefer them to have the 25% chance for being at the bottom but I guess we'll see what happens.

Kinda doubtful...I would be excited for top 3 for sure though.

I do want to beat Detroit in our last Division matchup, but I'd rather drop low enough to get top 3. I think that's feasible. Unless we actually steal the lottery, we shouldn't get the #1.

Looking forward to tonight. Forsberg in the lineup, the last time we see the Wings as a divisional and conference opponent, and an opportunity to really hurt their playoff chances. Of course, we'll probably lose 5-1, but until that happens I'm excited about the possibilities.

Money in the bank regardless. We'll take their money and their free agents! (probably not).

that penalty shot represented the season as a whole. I feel like charlie brown trying to kick the football and getting it pulled away at the last minute watching this team. I do like Forsberg just watching some of the small things he does that several guys on this team can't do.

And Beck is going to be a beast

I was impressed with Forsberg. I think he'll be a great player one day (hopefully real soon ). Beck's definitely a keeper!

Yeah the penalty shot...I think I'd rather have the two minutes....120 seconds to try to score with five players....instead of 4 to 5 seconds for one to skate in alone. It's 50/50.

Perhaps if the team that was victim to the penalty had a choice, take the penalty shot....or....a regular two minute power play.

Or...if the Penalty Shot is rewarded and unsuccessful, let the team victimized have 30 or 60 seconds of power play time.

It just seems a penalty so blatant that it conjures a penalty shot, doesn't give any advantage if the shot is saved by the goalie

Just thinking, no gripes

You can choose the player for the shot or get a 5 on 3 for one minute or a 5 on 4 for two minutes.

Is that what you'd like to see? Otherwise, I guess sarcasm about the 5-on-4 & 5-on-3 choices? (Edit: On second thought, I think maybe that those are the type of options you'd like to see.)

Anyway, regarding who shoots, Rule 24 covering Penalty Shots: 24.3 Designated Player – In cases where a penalty shot has been awarded to a player specifically fouled, that player shall be designated by the Referee to take the penalty shot.

No choice in that situation (such as last night) and always the case unless the penalty shot infraction is less specific than interfering with a breakaway shooter.

A penalty shot could be awarded for things such as deliberately throwing objects at the puck in the defending zone, deliberate illegal substitution, etc. (There is a list of infractions that might qualify.)

In that case, shooter is chosen as follows (continuation of rule 24.3: In all other cases where a penalty shot has been awarded, the penalty shot shall be taken by a player selected by the Captain of the non-offending team from the players on the ice at the time when the foul was committed. Such selection shall be reported to the Referee and cannot be changed.
